Fly Fishing Tackle
Fly fishing the flats for redfish and big trout is very challenging. Good tackle is essential, and if needed I can provide you with the best. Thomas & Thomas Horizon Saltwater Series Rods, including the new Paradigm, Abel Reels No.1 and Able 3N. I am very fortunate to have Thomas & Thomas, Abel, AIR-FLOW and Pacific Fly as my sponsors.
This is the tackle we use WF-8-F, WF-9-F saltwater and bone fish taper fly lines. Nine and ten foot leaders with 8 to 12 pound test fluorocarbon tippets. Sandy Point offers premium knotted saltwater fly leaders with 100% fluorocarbon tippets. Sandy Point caters to fly fishermen who demand the finest materials without the high cost. Flies include the Clouser Minnow (chartreuse and white), Sliders, Bent-backs, Shrimp and Crab patterns. Hook sizes 2-4-6. In the winter months December through March you will need to bring a good pair of Hodgman neoprene or breathable waders and flats boot. The rest of the year flats boots are all you will need to wade the flats.
